Designing in concrete

At the pop up shop last week I was selling Tove Adman's concrete lamps, tables, candleholders and clocks. I had hung the nude concrete lamp on a coat rack but a lady asked me how else one could hang this lamp. Below is an answer on the first photo: on a nice tree branch for example. I have also found some other inspirational images with her designs.

The ide&oda webshop is only a few days away....

Made in Sweden

We all know that Scandinavian design is appreciated all over the world. This is why SMD Design not only believes that good Swedish design deserves to be made in Sweden, but they actually make most of their products at their own production site, in Småland, in southern Sweden.

The below products will be available at the Scandinavian Art and Design week by ide&oda, but if you see any other products on their website that you like, let me know.

Just waiting to be hugged!

Most important act at the Scandinavian Art and Design exhibition will be Swedish artist Matt Nils who will be spreading joy and playfulness with his ceramic Hugboxes.

Available in different sizes, in black and white, these whimsical sculptures are each carefully hand sculpted and glazed.

We (the design film company) had some fun making this video for you.

Launching of Scandinavian Art and Design Event

Today starts a three week countdown to the Scandinavian Art and Design event I am organizing in Geneva. The week between 26 November and 2 December I will open a pop-up shop in the old town in Geneva selling Matt Nils' ceramics, Carl Spader's photography (Swedish Artists) & Scandinavian design objects. Today I am only posting the invite but stay tuned for more information on the artists and the objects. In the meanwhile you can like ide&oda on Facebook.

Old treasure in my living room

An amazing luck to find this old school bench in a secondhand shop in France.

Even Hungarians can do it...

How cool is this Hungarian farmhouse featured on the Dezeen website? It was created by architects Budapesti Műhely and is a "contemporary interpretation of a traditional Hungarian peasant house".

FORMEX

Formex is the largest meeting place for Nordic interior design. I was there in August to get inspired (and to see friends in Stockholm). I was not allowed to take photos but these are a few products I saw and loved:

Fake wood puffs and sofa from Norwegian ygg&lyng

Black and white wool plaid by Swedish Klippan

Soft forms by Finnish Melaja.

Back to work

Finally back home after a long lazy summer. It is always nice to come home to your own house after being away. I love walking up on our stairs where this Bruno Munari Falkland lamp, a wedding gift, hangs. (photos by Leyla Pope)
